West Virginia University women's basketball head coach
Mark Kellogg has announced the addition of Sydney Shaw (Miami, Fla./Auburn) to a grant-in-aid for the 2024-25 academic year.
"We are thrilled to add Sydney to our program," Kellogg said. "She is a versatile guard that has valuable experience playing in the SEC the last two seasons"

The 5-foot-9 guard from Miami, Florida has played two seasons of collegiate basketball with two seasons of eligibility left after beginning her career at Auburn University.
Shaw has netted 446 points, 161 rebounds and 101 assists in two seasons. She has played in 63 career contests, making 43 starts, while recording 1,422 minutes played.
Last season, Shaw played in all 32 games while making 18 starts. She averaged 6.6 points and 2.5 rebounds while playing 21.5 minutes per game. The guard was Auburn's second-leading 3-point shooter, hitting 35-of-106 (33.0%) while scoring in double-figures eight times.
During her freshman season, Shaw played in all 31 games, starting 25 while averaging 7.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.3 assists. She played 23.8 minutes per game during her first collegiate season. Shaw was also Auburn's second-leading 3-point shooter, hitting 40-of-118 (33.9%) while accounting for 71 assists during the season, the most on the team. She scored in double figures eight times and was named an SEC Freshman of the Week.
She graduated high school from DME Academy in Daytona Beach, Florida. During her senior season, she averaged 12.5 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game. Shaw was ranked No. 43 in the class of 2022 by ESPN HoopGurlz Top 100 rankings. She also played club basketball for the Miami Suns.
Sydney intends to major in Exercise Science while at West Virginia University. She is the daughter of Athena Lightburn and Jonathan Shaw and she has three siblings, Isaiah Shaw, Eva Shaw and Kayah Pouncy.
