MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team will face the No. 27 Texas Tech Red Raiders on Thursday, April 11, in Lubbock, Texas, and No. 44 BYU on Saturday, April 13, in Provo, Utah.
The Mountaineers will face Texas Tech at 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, and the Cougars at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday.
West Virginia (14-9, 3-8 Big 12) has its most wins in a season since it won 17 in 2010. WVU also has the most Big 12 Conference wins in a season in program history.
The Mountaineers ended a four-match skid with a 4-1 victory against Iowa State on April 7, in the final home regular season match of the season.
Three players have won at least 10 matches in singles play this season including redshirt sophomore
Maja Dodik, junior
Tatiana Lipatova and senior
Momoko Nagato. Nagato leads the team in singles victories with 13.
As a team, West Virginia is 70-55 in singles play.
The pairing of junior
Michaela Kucharova and Nagato has been dominant in the No. 1 spot all season for WVU, sitting at 11-6 overall. The doubles team comprised of freshman
Maya Bordereau and Dodik is 10-4 on the year.
West Virginia will conclude the regular season with its match against BYU. The Mountaineers will then compete in the 2024 Big 12 Tennis Championship from April 17-20, at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
