Box Score MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team lost to No. 7 Texas, 7-0, at the Texas Tennis Center in Austin, Texas, on Friday.
West Virginia battled with the Longhorns in the doubles matches with the pairing of senior
Momoko Nagato and junior
Michaela Kucharova winning the No. 1 seed match, 6-1.
However, West Virginia did not win another doubles match as Texas earned the point to lead, 1-0, heading into singles play.
In singles play, the Mountaineers fought, but could not match the Longhorns on the court. Graduate student
Love-Star Alexis fell in the No. 1 seed match, 6-0, 6-0.
Kucharova was defeated in the No. 5 seed match, 6-2, 6-1. Texas clinched the match when redshirt
Maja Dodik lost, 6-0, 6-4, in the No. 3 seed singles match.
