
Mountaineers Finish Day One of Raleigh Relays

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team wrapped up the first day of the Raleigh Relays on Friday evening in Raleigh, North Carolina at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility.
The Mountaineers kicked off the day with the women's high jump with senior Abigale Mullings leading the squad in the event, tying for tenth at the 1.65-meter mark. Redshirt freshman Annishka McDonald followed behind in seventeenth at 1.65 meters as well. Junior Eden Williams jumped for 1.60 meters to round out the event.
On the track, redshirt senior Mikenna Vanderheyden led the mid-distance squad in the women's 1,500-meter race with a time of 4:28.06. Redshirt senior Sarah Tait and redshirt sophomore Emily Bryce added impressive showings in the event, notching times of 4:31.19 and 4:32.07, respectively.
Next, West Virginia will continue competition at the Raleigh Relays on Saturday with the women's 800 meters and 400-meter hurdles. The Mountaineers will also send a small group to the Carnegie Mellon Invitational which kicks off at 10 a.m. in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
