MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University junior golfer Max Green shot 5-under-par to finish tied for fourth place at The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, South Carolina.
Green posted rounds of 67-74-70=211 to finish 5-under-par. Fifth-year senior Trent Tipton tied for 14th place with rounds of 74-70-71=215 (-1).
Senior Will Stakel finished +6 and tied for 45th place, shooting 74-72-76=222. Senior Jackson Davenport tied for 55th place at +7 with rounds of 73-73-77=223, and junior Todd Duncan finished 11-over-par with rounds of 80-72-75=227.
The Mountaineers finished in eighth place at the 15-team event with rounds of 288-287-292=867 (+3).
"Another great week for Max Green, he continues to play elite golf," coach Sean Covich said. "I'm really proud of Trent Tipton, he's battled back from some adversity to really help the team these past few tournaments.
"Overall, it's a little disappointing finish, especially how we played the final nine holes, but a solid event versus a good field of teams. Now it's time to host the Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye Golf Club."
West Virginia will close out the regular season on Monday, April 15 and Tuesday, April 16, hosting the Mountaineer Invitational at Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
