
Cheatwood, Sullivan to Compete at 2024 NCAA Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomores Mia Cheatwood and Abigail Sullivan will compete at the 2024 Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Georgia, from March 21-23.
ESPN+ will livestream the preliminary and final rounds each day of the meet.
Sullivan will compete in the platform event. The preliminary round is set for Saturday, March 23, at noon ET.
Cheatwood will compete in the 100 breaststroke and 200 breaststroke events. The preliminary round for the 100 breaststroke event is on Friday, March 22, at 10 a.m. The preliminary round for the 200 breaststroke is on Saturday, March 23, at 10 a.m.
This is the first time for Cheatwood and Sullivan to compete at the NCAA championships. Sullivan became the first female WVU diver to qualify for the championships since 1984. Sullivan is the first female WVU diver to qualify for the championships in the platform event.
Sullivan placed fifth in the platform at the 2024 NCAA Zone A Diving Championships in Princeton, New Jersey, on March 13, with a final score of 465.45.
Cheatwood qualified for the championships after an impressive showing at the 2024 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championships in Morgantown. Cheatwood set the program record in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.13) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.08) at the meet.
Cheatwood also earned a bronze medal in the 200 breaststroke event and placed fifth in the A final of the 100 breaststroke at the Big 12 championships.
Cheatwood is the first female swimmer from WVU to compete at the championships since 2019.
