MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Redshirt freshman
Mary Delaney of the West Virginia University track and field team claimed victory in the women's 3,000 meters on Friday at the YSU Icebreaker. Delaney took the win with a time of 10:11.34 in Youngstown, Ohio at the Watson and Tressel Training Site.
Sophomore Lily Haught had an impressive outing in the women's 400 meters, running a personal best time of 56.64 while claiming third place.
Additionally, sophomore
Eva Rinker earned second place in the women's mile, running for a time of 5:10.54.
In the 60-meter dash, sophomore
Izayah Everett finished 12
th with a time of 7.78. Freshman
Sabria Jones finished next for the Mountaineers in 14th place, while Haught claimed 15
th place.
Redshirt juniors
Aubrie Custer and
Zara Zervos collected career bests in the women's 5,000 meters, with times of 17:59.46 and 18:25.23, respectively.
In the field, redshirt sophomore
Annishka McDonald placed third in the women's high jump, leaping 1.66 meters. Redshirt sophomore
Olivia Cress finished sixth in her first collegiate performance in the women's long jump, jumping for 5.50 meters.
Next, the Mountaineers are set to compete at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener on Dec. 7, at the Track & Tennis Center in Boston, Massachusetts. Graduate students
Ceili McCabe and
Sarah Tait, along with redshirt junior
Emily Bryce will compete in the women's 3,000 meters at approximately 2:05 p.m. ET.
