MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After being named to the Gulf Coast Showcase All-Tournament Team and leading the Mountaineers to a runner-up finish, senior guard JJ Quinerly has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
 
The Norfolk, Virginia native averaged 21.7 points per game for the week, scoring a season-high 29 against No. 5 Texas on Sunday. She added a 22-point performance against High Point on Friday and an 18-point game against Boise State on Saturday.
 
Additionally, Quinerly averaged three rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game.
 
The Mountaineers return to the floor on Friday, Dec. 6, when they host East Tennessee State for Education Day inside the WVU Coliseum. Tipoff is set for 10:30 a.m. ET.

Last Week in Volleyball: The Mountaineers were swept by No. 22 TCU on Nov. 27, 3-0 inside of the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown ... West Virginia concluded the season against No. 16 Baylor on Nov. 29, dropping a three-set match, 3-0 in Morgantown.
 
Notes: West Virginia celebrated senior day on Nov. 29, as seniors Lauren DeLo, Hailey Green, Kristen McBride and Sydney Reed were honored ... the Mountaineers finished No. 5 in the league with 164 service aces in 111 sets, averaging 1.48 aces per set ... redshirt junior outside hitter Cassidy Tanton finished No. 7 in the conference, averaging 0.37 aces per set ... sophomore setter Alexis Finnvold picked up the No. 10 in the Big 12 with her 8.62 assists per set ... graduate student Sydney Reed landed at No. 10 in the league with her 3.59 digs per set ... junior middle blocker Laila Ibrahim was tabbed at No. 10 in the Big 12 as she averaged 1.06 blocks per set.
 
This Week in Women's Basketball: The Mountaineers are back at home this week when they host East Tennessee State on Friday at 10:30 a.m. ET inside of the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown … the contest serves as the squad's Education Day match.
