MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –
West Virginia University men's and women's swimming and diving assistant coach
Sydney Pickrem earned a bronze medal for Team Canada at the 2024 Short Course World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, on Tuesday.
Pickrem was part of the 100-meter freestyle relay team in the prelims to begin the championships. Team Canada qualified for the final with a final time of 3:34.50.
Pickrem did not swim in the final as Team Canada earned bronze after the relay team touched the wall at 3:28.44.
The United States relay team set a world record with a final time of 3:25.01 to win gold.
Pickrem is back in action on Wednesday to compete in the 100-meter breaststroke. Prelims will take place at 3 a.m. EST each day and finals will begin at 11:30 a.m. The championships will air on NBC/Peacock.
