Rifle No. 4 in CRCA Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rifle team is ranked No. 4 in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA) poll, the organization announced.
Kentucky sits at No. 1, Alaska Fairbanks is No. 2, Georgia Southern is No. 3 and TCU rounds out the top five with a No. 5 ranking. The poll is determined based on each team's most recent match score.
Joining West Virginia and Kentucky from the GARC in the poll are No. 6 Navy, No. 12 Akron, No. 13 Memphis and No. 14 Army.
West Virginia finished the fall portion of its schedule with a perfect 8-0 marks and have run their regular season win streak to 21 straight matches. WVU has defeated five ranked opponents this season, including two of the top five teams in the country in Georgia Southern and TCU.
The Mountaineers' 4738.2 aggregate score is second best in the nation, the team's 2354 mark in smallbore is the best, and its 2384.2 average in air rifle sits second. Sophomore Griffin Lake is averaging a team-leading 1185.8 aggregate average which is the sixth best in the country. Lake's 590.1 in smallbore also leads WVU and is the sixth best in the nation. Freshman Camryn Camp's air rifle mark of 596.5 is the tenth-best in the country and leads WVU.
West Virginia back on the line on Saturday, Jan. 18, when they play host to Navy inside the WVU Shell Building. The match will be the Mountaineers' third Great America Rifle Conference match of the season.
