West Virginia to Host WVU Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in the WVU Invitational from Nov. 20-22, at The Peak Health Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
Prelims will take place at 10 a.m. EST each day. Finals are slated for 6 p.m. This is the first competition for the Mountaineers since they faced Kentucky on Oct. 25, in Lexington, Kentucky.

West Virginia will compete in the invitational with Old Dominion, Navy, Villanova and William & Mary.
Redshirt senior Danny Berlitz has built off a dominant 2023 campaign to lead the Mountaineers so far this season. Berlitz has won six individual events for the Mountaineers this year, winning the 100-yard breaststroke (55.51), 200 breast (2:01.70) and the 200 individual medley (1:48.76) against the Wildcats.
Senior Conner McBeth has also led WVU, winning the 100 freestyle (45.11) and placing second in the 50 free (20.53) against UK.
The men's swimming and diving team has had flashes from some newcomers this season as well. Freshman Joey Stebbins touched the wall at 1:50.22 in the 200 backstroke to win against Kentucky.
The women's team has relied on a variety of Mountaineers throughout the season.
Sophomore Madeline Smutny has had an impressive start to the season, placing second in the 200 free (1:52.22) and third in the 500 free (5:02.71) against Kentucky.
Sophomore Victoria Kidney was the only WVU swimmer on the women's team to win an event against the Wildcats, touching the wall at 57.40 in the 100 butterfly.
