
West Virginia Prepped for Big 12 Championships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team is set for the 2024 Cross Country Big 12 Championships on Nov. 1, which will be hosted by Baylor. This year's race will be held at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course in Waco, Texas.
The women's 6k is scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. ET, followed by the men's 8k at noon.
Friday's race can be viewed live on ESPN+, while live results are available at WVUsports.com.
West Virginia will race ten student athletes on Friday, including top performers senior Ceili McCabe and freshman Joy Naukot. McCabe comes in at No. 15 in the FloTrack D1 Women's Individual rankings, while Naukot ranks No. 19.
Last time out, West Virginia finished fourth out of 33 teams at the Wisconsin Pre Nationals on Oct. 19, collecting 207 team points. The race was highlighted by McCabe who finished with a personal and program best time of 19:10.9, taking fourth place. Naukot finished next for the Mountaineers, running the fastest time as a West Virginia freshman, 19:37.4 while claiming 10th place.
West Virginia was ranked No. 4 in the Women's Cross Country National Coaches' Poll on Oct. 22, by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The No. 4 spot was the program's highest ranking since Nov. 24, 2008. The Mountaineers were also named No. 2 in the Mid-Atlantic Regional poll by USTFCCA.
