MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University golf team sits in second place after 36 holes of play in the season-opening Red Bandanna Invitational at Turning Stone Resort in Verona, New York.
Junior
Max Green is tied for second place on the individual leaderboard at 1-under-par with rounds of 68-75. True freshman
Harrison Thompson is tied for fifth place at Even par with rounds of 73-71. Senior
Jackson Davenport shot 74-72 and is 2-over-par, tied for eighth place. Fellow senior Oli Ménard is tied for 20th place at 6-over-par with rounds of 74-76. Sophomore
Carson Kammann is tied for 28th place, shooting 75-79 (+10).
Three Mountaineers are competing as individuals in the tournament. Sophomore
Kaleb Wilson is tied for fifth place at Even par with rounds of 68-76. Senior
Will Stakel recorded rounds of 78-75 (+9) and sophomore
Westy McCabe is +11 with rounds of 78-77.
As a team, WVU (+7) trails tournament leader Boston College (+5) by two strokes in the 15-team field. The Mountaineers have a 10-shot advantage over third place George Mason.
The final 18 holes will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday.
