MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team completed the first day of the Wahoowa Invitational on Friday evening in Charlottesville, Virginia.
The day began with the doubles team of
Ting-Pei Chang and
Momoko Nagato facing Penn State's Katerina Dimitrova and Kate Zink. Chang and Nagato won the match, 6-2.
Nagato and Chang also faced Princeton's Neha Velga and Eva Elbaz, losing 6-4. West Virginia's doubles team of
Love-Star Alexis and
Maja Dodik defeated Princeton's Leena Bennetto and Maddie Jessup, 6-3.
In singles play, the Mountaineers collected one win with Alexis leading the way. Alexis defeated Velga, 7-5, 6-4. Dodik fell to Bennetto, 6-2, 6-2, and Chang lost to Jessup, 6-2, 6-2.
Nagato wrapped up singles play for West Virginia in a loss to Princeton's Bella Chhiv, 6-2, 6-4.
West Virginia will continue play in the Wahoowa Invitational on Saturday. Updates will be posted to WVUsports.com following the matches.
