MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team concluded the Mountaineer Twilight on April 29 at the Track and Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
"It's been a busy last couple of weeks coming off last week's invitational," coach Sean Cleary said. "Heading over to the Penn Relays with a couple of athletes then coming back here for a little tune up, it's always nice to stay close to home during dead week before finals."
Senior
Katherine Dowie, junior
Mikenna Vanderheyden and redshirt freshman
Zara Zervos concluded the night with the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Dowie led the way with a 10:21.66 performance. Vanderheyden followed with a personal best time of 10:26.19, and Zervos finished behind her.
"Overall tonight, we got a few things done," Cleary continued. "Katherine and Mikenna currently lay within the qualifying numbers for the NCAA Championships. A lot can happen in the next few weeks, but it's nice to leave here knowing they're certainly in the conversation."
Senior
Tessa Constantine took the lead early in the 400-hurdles and never looked back. Completing the 400 meters in 1:00.10, the Sydney, Australia, native beat her next closest competitor by over six seconds.
"Tessa ran a very, very aggressive race today," Cleary said. "She took a shot at a big, big time in a field that she was clearly the best, and that's hard sometimes with the hurdles. She did a wonderful job."
Senior
Sada Wright claimed her second consecutive first-place in discus with a throw of 46.14 meters. She improved on last week's throw by over half a meter, and Saturday marked her best effort since the 2022 WVU Last Chance.
The three high jumpers claimed the top three spots for the second consecutive week at Mylan Park. Sophomore
Abigale Mullings stood atop the podium this week, posting a jump of 1.67 meters. Building off her 1.66-meter jump on April 21, Saturday marked her best leap since the 2023 Big 12 Indoor Championships. Freshman
Olivia Cress followed, and Mullings' classmate
Eden Williams took third.
"Sada had her season best, and Abbey had her season best," Cleary added. "I think we're gaining a little bit of momentum in some of those event areas."
Redshirt senior
Hayley Jackson, sophomore
Tazanna Epps and her classmate
Cassandra Williamson ran the 800-meter. Williamson finished first with a time of 2:06.56. Jackson followed her at 2:08.37, while Epps rounded out the group. Of note, Jackson set the Mylan Park 800-meter track record with a time of 2:05.92 on April 30, 2022.
"The half-milers came out like they do every week and ran really hard," Cleary said. "They're running well, but we know they're a little better than that, so we're hoping that over the next few weeks, once we get some really conducive conditions for the half mile, that we can see them run to their truest potential."
Sophomore
Megan Weaver, redshirt freshman
Aubrie Custer and freshman
Alex Fleck competed in the 1,500-meter run. Weaver finished first of the trio, while Custer and Fleck both set personal bests during the event.
"We had a few others tonight run career, season or lifetime bests in the 800 and 1,500, so we're leaving the meet very happy that we were able to come out here and run the best that they've ever run."
Sophomore
Ghamani Hogue competed in the 100-meter hurdles.
West Virginia continues the homestand with the WVU Last Chance on Saturday, May 6. Saturday's meet also is senior night for the Mountaineers. Live stats are available on
