
McCabe Paces WVU in Georgia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – True freshman Westy McCabe shot 2-under-par to lead the West Virginia University golf team during the first round of the Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Georgia, on Friday.
McCabe is tied for seventh place at the par-72 Forest Heights Country Club with 36 holes to play. Junior Jackson Davenport shot 1-over-par today and is tied for 27th place. Sophomore Max Green shot 76 today, while juniors Will Stakel and Oli Ménard each shot 79 during the first round.
After the first day, the Mountaineers are in 10th place in the 14-team field, three shots back of eighth place and eight shots behind sixth place.
Golfers will tee off in the second round on Saturday morning, followed by the final 18 holes on Sunday.
