Mountaineers Defeat Morgan State

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team (7-3, 0-0 Big 12) defeated Morgan State, 6-1, on Saturday afternoon in Morgantown.
Saturday's matchup against the Bears began with doubles play. Fifth-year Pei-Ju Hsieh and redshirt freshman Maja Dodik claimed the first victory of the dual match over Morgan State's Anabel Aran and Stefania Moysiadi, 6-0. Sophomore/senior pair Camilla Bossi and Ting-Pei Chang defeated Averiana Mitchell and Lauryn Hall, 6-3, to clinch the doubles point.
Sophomore Michaela Kucharova and junior Momoko Nagato fell to MSU's Asmara Rose and Hannah Smith, 2-6.
Moving on to singles play, Bossi, Kucharova, Hsieh and Dodik all claimed victories in two sets for the Mountaineers. Chang clinched the match for West Virginia, defeating Mitchell in two sets, 6-2, 6-0.
Sophomore Catherine Wassick suffered WVU's only singles loss of the day, as she fell to Natalia Switschnik, 2-6, 0-6.

West Virginia returns to action on Saturday, March 4, against Cleveland State and Howard at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., respectively, at the Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown.
