MORGANTOWN, W.Va. –
The West Virginia University gymnastics team returns to the WVU Coliseum for its first and only home dual meet of the 2023 campaign, as Bowling Green comes to Morgantown on Sunday, Feb. 19, at 1 p.m. ET.
Sunday's meet is WVU's annual Cancer Awareness Meet, and pink rally towels will be given away to the first 500 fans in attendance, courtesy of WVU Medicine. It also is the Mountaineers' first-ever Alumni Meet, as the team welcomes back former gymnasts and Hall of Fame coach Linda Burdette-Good,

The Mountaineers and Bowling Green meet for 16th time in program history on Sunday, as West Virginia leads the all-time series, 10-5. The two teams last met on Feb. 23, 2020, when West Virginia secured a 196.0-194.225 win inside the WVU Coliseum in Morgantown.
Bowling Green enters Sunday's matchup with a 1-8 overall record, as well as a 0-4 mark in MAC competition. The Falcons are coming off a 195.625-195.025 loss to Kent State on Feb. 11.
In this week's Road to Nationals rankings, WVU sits at No. 24 on floor exercise with a season average of 49.200. WVU's floor lineup has a season best of 49.375, earned on Jan. 29. The Mountaineers have been ranked inside the top 25 on floor for 25 consecutive weeks, dating back to Jan. 25, 2021.
Overall, West Virginia ranks No. 40 nationally with a season average of 195.329. Elsewhere, WVU sits at No. 35 on beam (48.796), No. 43 on vault (48.746) and No. 49 on bars (48.588).
Last time out, West Virginia fell to No. 8 Denver by a score of 195.575-197.125 inside Magness Arena in Denver, Colorado, on Feb. 12. The Pioneers topped the Mountaineers on every event except floor, where the two squads tied with matching 49.15 team scores. Denver outscored the Mountaineers 49.35-48.625 on vault, 49.3-48.925 on uneven bars and 49.325-48.875 on balance beam.
Senior
Kianna Yancey led WVU on bars with a 9.85, while senior
Abbie Pierson and junior
Kiana Lewis earned the top scores on vault with a pair of 9.75s. Fifth-year senior
Kendra Combs, Lewis and Pierson led the way on floor with 9.85s, and
Kianna Yancey paced the beam rotation with a 9.825. In the final individual event standings, Yancey finished third on bars and the all-around. On floor, Combs, Lewis and Pierson finished in a tie for second place.
