MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University football assistant coaches Bilal Marshall and Blaine Stewart were recognized today by the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) as members of its 35 Under 35 Class of 2024.
Marshall coaches the wide receivers while Stewart coaches the tight ends and both are in their first seasons at West Virginia.
The 35 Under 35 program was created by the AFCA to identify and develop future leaders in the coaching profession. Selected participants will be invited to attend a one-day seminar at the annual AFCA Convention in January and it will feature interactive lectures emphasizing leadership, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression and family balance.
Marshall was formerly a graduate assistant coach at WVU before his prior full-time assistant coaching role at VMI, while Stewart spent four years in various roles on Mike Tomlin's staff with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He is the son of late WVU coach Bill Stewart.
West Virginia finished the regular season with an 8-4 record and will face 8-4 North Carolina in the Duke's Mayo Bowl at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Wednesday, Dec. 27.
