MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University swimming and diving teams will officially begin the regular season by hosting the West Virginia State Games from Oct. 6-7 at The Aquatic Center at Mylan Park in Morgantown.
"It's always an honor to host the WV State Games, and all of the great programs in West Virginia," head coach Vic Riggs said. "This will be the women's first test of the season with Marshall. With this being our real first meet, we focus on where we are in training and seeing our freshmen compete."
Along with West Virginia, WVU Tech, Davis & Elkins, Marshall (women's team only), Fairmont State, Bethany College, Wheeling University and West Virginia Wesleyan are set to compete in the meet.
This will be the 12th edition of the WV State Games and the eighth time West Virginia has hosted the event. The Mountaineers won the WV State Games last season, finishing with 3,112.5 total points for the two-day event.
Competition will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday. Results can be found at WVUsports.com.
