MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rowing team continues its fall season on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the 53
rd Annual Head of the Schuylkill Regatta in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This two-day event is not just a competition; it's a celebration of rowing that draws in more than 8,000 athletes and captivates up to 30,000 spectators from around the globe.
This is a head race, which will be held on the Schuylkill River, with each boat competing in their own categories and earning a place within that event.
"The WVU Rowing team is set to make waves as they hit the water, competing in various categories, including a pair, a four plus cox, and two doubles,"
Mikie Sevick, WVU assistant rowing coach said. "It promises to be a weekend filled with fierce competition and the spirit of camaraderie as they join rowing enthusiasts from all corners of the world."
Competing for WVU at 8:30 a.m. in the women's championship pair will be
Violet Hewett (Jr./Clermont, Fla.) and
Teegan Wendley (Fr./Williamsburg, Va.).
Competing at 11:30 a.m. in the four plus coxswain event will be
Emily DeGlopper (Sr./Clarence, N.Y.),
Samantha Krankowski (Fr./Cleveland, Ohio), Hewett,
Katherine Capitan (Sr./Arlington, Va.) and
Laurna Atkins (Sr./Williamsburg, Va.)
Concluding WVU's racing for the day in the women's championship doubles division will be Atkins, Wendley,
Emma Higgins (So./Kearneysville, W.Va.) and Krankowski.
