The West Virginia University gymnastics team returns to Morgantown to host its second home meet of the 2023 campaign, as it welcomes Iowa State, Eastern Michigan and Towson to the WVU Coliseum on Sunday, Jan. 29. Action is set for 2 p.m. ET.
Sunday's quad meet is WVU's second annual Women's Empowerment Meet, as women working in various fields and occupations will host an activity fair for fans on the Coliseum concourse prior to the start of the meet. A special giveaway will be available for kids who participate in at least five stations. It's also Mountaineer Kids Club Day with special guest Mr. Twister. MKC members can pick up their t-shirts at the meet. WVU Coliseum gates will open at 1 p.m., with the activity fair taking place until the start of the meet at 2 p.m.

The Mountaineers (4-4) are set to meet Towson for the second time in as many weeks after competing at Towson last week. The Tigers topped WVU, 195.075-194.800, as West Virginia placed third in TU's quad meet on Jan. 20. Overall, Towson comes to Morgantown with a 5-1 record on the year.
WVU and Iowa State last met at the 2022 Big 12 Championship on March 19, 2022, when West Virginia claimed third place and beat the Cyclones, 196.650-196.100, in Denver, Colorado. The Mountaineers are set to open their 2023 Big 12 Conference slate against ISU on Sunday. The Cyclones enter Sunday's quad with a 3-0 record.
West Virginia and Eastern Michigan meet for the first time since 2019 and first time in Morgantown since 2017. In the last meeting on Jan. 12, 2019, WVU claimed a 195.5-192.7 victory in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. EMU enters Sunday's quad with a 0-5 record so far this season.
In this week's Road to Nationals rankings, WVU sits at No. 23 on floor exercise with a season average of 49.167. West Virginia's floor lineup has a season best of 49.200, earned in the season opener at Florida on Jan. 6 and then again at Towson on Jan. 20. The Mountaineers have been ranked inside the top 25 on floor for 22 consecutive weeks, dating back to Jan. 25, 2021.
Overall, West Virginia sits at No. 38 nationally with a season average of 194.942. Elsewhere, WVU ranks No. 34 on beam (48.675), No. 38 on vault (48.775) and No. 52 on bars (48.325).
Last week, West Virginia earned a third-place finish in a quad meet at Towson with New Hampshire and West Chester in Towson, Maryland, on Jan. 20. NHU earned the meet victory, posting a 195.275, while host Towson took second place with a 195.075. The Mountaineers landed in third with a 194.8, and West Chester took fourth place with a 192.475.
Senior
Emily Holmes-Hackerd highlighted the meet with a career-best 9.925 on floor exercise to lead the lineup to a season-high tying 49.2 event total. WVU added totals of 48.7 on vault, 48.05 on uneven bars and a season-high 48.85 on balance beam.
