
West Virginia Hosts Navy for Senior Day

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The No. 3-ranked West Virginia University rifle team returns to Morgantown for Senior Day, as it hosts No. 9 Navy at the WVU Rifle Range.
Saturday's contest against the Midshipmen will be shot in two relays throughout the day. The first relay will begin at 8 a.m. ET, and the second relay will follow at 12:30 p.m. A live scorecard for the matches can be found at ncaarifle.org. Additionally, live targets for the Senior Day match will be available online, courtesy of MegaLink.
West Virginia (14-3, 7-0 GARC) is 31-8 all-time against Navy (8-2, 2-4 GARC), with the series beginning in 1966.
The Mountaineers are coming off a pair of matches in Ohio, having secured victory in both contests. WVU started the past weekend on Jan. 21, facing off against No. 11 Ohio State, defeating the Buckeyes, 4740-4713. The trip was brought to a close with a match against No. 10 Akron. The squad earned a win over the Zips with a final score of 4743-4695.
Senior Mary Tucker topped the leaderboard for both matches. She began the weekend with an aggregate score of 1189, shooting a 591 in smallbore and a 598 in air rifle. The Sarasota, Florida, native continued the weekend with a 1195 aggregate score, notching 596 points in smallbore and 599 points in air rifle. She currently leads the nation in aggregate and smallbore average, with 1190.75 and 592.75, respectively.
WVU ranks No. 3 nationally in aggregate average (4731.182), air rifle average (2381.273) and smallbore average (2349.909).
