MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - After conducting a two-week tryout, the West Virginia University rowing team has announced its 2022-23 novice squad, featuring 24 first-year rowers.
"First, I want to thank everyone who tried out regardless of if they made the roster or not," Associate Head Coach
Tina Griffith said. "We appreciate the work and dedication you put in during tryouts. To those who did make the roster, congratulations. We are very excited to see what this group can achieve with some training. These individuals are starting out as some of the fittest and most motivated we have had in the program and we can't wait to see where they can take us."
The squad hails from 10 different states, including 10 from West Virginia.
The newest Mountaineers will begin team practices on, Monday September 19, and will continue throughout the fall until they have their first competition at the Head of the Occoquan Regatta on Saturday, November 5, at Fairfax Station, Virginia, hosted by George Mason.
