Mountaineers Earn ITA All-Academic Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team for the ninth consecutive year, announced by the ITA on Monday.
In addition to the team's accolade, six members were tabbed as ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2022 season. Senior Anastasiia Bovolskaia, junior Pei-Ju Hsieh, sophomore Momoko Nagato and freshmen Camilla Bossi, Michaela Kucharova and Catherine Wassick were recognized by the ITA for their outstanding work in the classroom.
"It was a great year for us in the classroom," Mountaineer coach Miha Lisac said. "Credit to each and every student-athlete for dedicating themselves to not just getting better on the tennis courts, but also setting the high standards academically."
"We wouldn't be able to accomplish our academic goals by ourselves, our academic staff is top-notch, and they help us stay on track. Our team and players continue to pursue excellence on and off the tennis courts."
This marks the third ITA Scholar-Athlete selection for Bovolskaia, while Nagato earned her second consecutive honor.
In 2022, 1,517 Division I Women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete and 250 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet a set of academic and athletic standards of having a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
