MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University rowing team is playing host to the Gold and Blue Regatta, on Friday, April 15, on the Monongahela River in Morgantown, West Virginia.
Racing will take place on a 1k stretch of the Monongahela River starting downstream of the Westover Bridge and finishing near the upstream end of the docks in front of the WVU Boathouse. Spectators are welcome to join us on the docks and can view racing anywhere along the rail trail and from the amphitheater.
"The Gold and Blue Regatta is an annual intrasquad regatta among our Gold and Blue squads," WVU Rowing coach
Jimmy King said. "Throughout the year, team members earn points for their respective squads through academic performance, service work and in accomplishments in training and racing."
Racing will occur in doubles, fours and eights and includes varying lineup requirements as noted below. The last event of the day will be a non-scoring fours race that requires two coxswains rowing in each lineup.
"Team captains also serve as Gold and Blue squad coaches and are responsible for all aspects of race day including lineups, equipment selection, and launch times for races while the coaching staff serves as regatta officials." King added.
