Carter’s NBA Career Being Revitalized in Milwaukee

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Have you noticed that Jevon Carter's NBA career is experiencing a rebirth in Milwaukee?
Carter was the 32nd overall pick by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2018 NBA Draft following an All-American, four-year career at West Virginia.
His tenure in Memphis lasted just one season before he was shipped off to Phoenix, where he played two seasons before being traded to Brooklyn along with the draft rights to Day'Ron Sharpe in exchange for Landry Shamet before the start of 2021-22 season.
Carter's 46-game tenure in Brooklyn ended in late February when he was released by the Nets to make room on the roster to sign guard Goran Dragic. Three days later, Milwaukee claimed Carter off waivers when backup guard George Hill became sidelined with a neck injury.
Many thought Carter was just keeping Hill's seat on the bench warm until his return.
Wrong.
Jevon has been playing some of the best basketball of his NBA career for the reigning NBA champions. He's averaging a career-best 6.3 points over his 14 games so far with the Bucks, while shooting an eye-opening 58.8% from 3-point range. He's scored 11, seven, eight and nine points in his last four games, while making five of his eight 3-point tries.
The Bucks are currently leading the Central Division with a 47-28 record and are trailing Southeast Division leader Miami by one game for the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs with seven regular season games remaining.
According to Dalton Sell, who writes for the Bucks fan site Behind the Buck Pass, Carter has "rightfully played a more prominent role than Hill in the six games since the latter returned to the lineup."
He added, "Defensively, (Carter) has often been seen guarding opposing ball-handlers the entire length of the floor and hounding them up the court. When playing alongside other top-notch defenders like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Jrue Holliday, Carter's presence on that side of the basketball makes the Bucks all the more formidable.
"The true difference-maker between the two has come on offense," Sell continued. "Carter is putting up the best numbers of his career with the Bucks, lighting it up offensively."
Milwaukee signed Carter for his lock-down perimeter defense, but it's his 3-point shooting and scoring that might keep him there beyond this season.
