MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Twenty West Virginia University student-athletes have been named to the 2022 Academic All-Big 12 At-Large Teams, the conference announced Wednesday.

Fifth-year senior defender Kevin Morris of the men's soccer team (business data analytics) and senior Verena Zaisberger of the rifle team (music) each achieved a perfect, 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) and represented the Mountaineers on the first team. Morris and Zaisberger were two of three honorees on the conference-wide list who earned a 4.0 GPA.
Twelve additional student-athletes from the men's soccer team joined Morris on this year's squad, including Ryan Baer (sport management), Ciro Bourlot Jaeggi (general business), Ryan Crooks (business & communication pathways), Aaron Denk Gracia (general business), Dyon Dromers (sport management), Pau Jimenez Albelda (sport management & multidisciplinary studies), Kyle Lehnert (sport & exercise psychology), Ike Swiger (management), Steven Tekesky (sport management) and Bjarne Thiesen (general business), who all were named to the first team.
Moreover, Luke McCormick (criminology) and Sergio Ors Navarro (exercise physiology) from men's soccer were recognized on the second team.
For the rifle team, Malori Brown (exercise physiology), Jared Eddy (exercise physiology), Tal Engler (exercise physiology), Becca Lamb (computer science), Molly McGhin (psychology) and Calista Smoyer (communication sciences & disorders) all joined Zaisberger on the first team.
