Eight Mountaineers Earn CRCA All-America Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Eight members of the West Virginia University rifle team took home a combined 15 All-America honors from the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association (CRCA), as announced by the organization.
Three Mountaineers brought home three CRCA All-America honors this year, as sophomores Tal Engler and Molly McGhin and junior Akihito Shimizu each made an appearance on all three teams.
Engler and Shimizu were both named to the second team for the smallbore and air rifle disciplines, while the pair also was selected to third team for aggregate score. Shimizu now has six All-America honors to his name, and Engler has now earned five All-America accolades in her career.
McGhin earned honorable mention status for all three teams this year and now owns six All-America honors over her first two years in Morgantown.
Senior Verena Zaisberger was selected to the smallbore second team and also earned honorable mention status for aggregate score. The Hohenems, Austria, native now has six All-America honors in four seasons at WVU.
Junior Malori Brown and senior Jared Eddy each made an appearance on the smallbore second team. Brown and Eddy now have earned four and five All-America honors, respectively, in their careers.
Rounding out this year's awards, freshman Natalie Perrin and junior Calista Smoyer were each named honorable mention on the air rifle team. The honor is the first of Perrin's career and marks the fourth All-America award of Smoyer's career.
