WVU Closes Non-Conference Slate Against Towson
March 11, 2022 12:04 PM | Tennis
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team returns to action on Saturday, March 12, as Towson makes its way to Morgantown, to close the Mountaineers' non-conference slate at the Summit Tennis Academy.
First serve against the Tigers is set for 3 p.m. ET. Live stats and a livestream for Saturday afternoon's match will be available on WVUSports.com.
"We are looking forward to completing the week with the match against Towson," Mountaineer coach Miha Lisac said. "It's always good to compete at home, and we're able to get one more good, non-conference match in before entering Big 12 play."
West Virginia (5-6, 0-0 Big 12) and Towson are set to meet for the fifth time in program history. WVU leads the all-time series, 4-0, with the last meeting occurring in 2020, when the Mountaineers swept the Tigers, 7-0. Towson comes to Morgantown with a 1-5 record, following a recent 2-5 loss to Navy on March 5.
West Virginia is coming off a 3-4 loss to Michigan State, on March 9. The Mountaineers won the doubles point, but ultimately fell short during singles play to the Spartans. WVU's only singles wins came from freshmen Tatiana Lipatova and Camilla Bossi.
