
WVU Competes at Carnegie Mellon Invitational

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University cross country team competed at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational at Schenley Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday, Oct. 8.
Four Mountaineers completed the 5k on Saturday. Redshirt sophomore Megan Weaver led the Mountaineers with a 15th place finish and a career-best time of 19:36.2.
Additionally, redshirt freshman Zara Zervos competed for the first time since the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational on Sept. 9, finishing 28th with a time of 20:17.4.
Freshman Grace Wu followed Zervos, earning a time of 20:30.9 and finishing 42nd. Wu's time was good for a 5k career-best. Redshirt freshman Kase Torchia rounded out the top-four for WVU with a time of 20:42.9 to finish 53rd.
West Virginia was one of 16 schools racing in the women's 5k at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational, with a total of 135 runners completing the race.
Slippery Rock finished first in the 5k with 46 points.
The Mountaineers return to action at the Penn State National Open in State College, Pennsylvania, on Friday, Oct. 14, at Blue and White Golf Course.
