MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – After tying his career high with 11 strikeouts in Friday's win against Oklahoma, senior left-handed pitcher
Jackson Wolf of the West Virginia University baseball team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Wolf was dominant in the series-opening win over the Sooners on May 7. He allowed just three hits, one unearned run and one walk on 117 pitches, including 80 strikeouts. The Gahanna, Ohio, native retired 10 in a row at one point from the fourth to seventh innings.
Additionally, Wolf became the first Mountaineer pitcher to register 10 or more strikeouts in three consecutive starts since Alek Manoah from April 5-20, 2019. On the season, the Mountaineer southpaw is 4-5 with a 3.31 ERA and 86 strikeouts in 68.0 innings of work. He has allowed three earned runs or fewer in eight of his 11 starts this spring.

This Week in Track and Field: The Mountaineers continue their outdoor season at the Big 12 Championship, from May 14-16 … the Championship will be hosted by Kansas State, at the R.V. Christian Complex, in Manhattan, Kansas.
Last Week in Track and Field: WVU closed out competition at the WVU Last Chance meet with eight first-place finishes in eight events at the Track and Field Complex, at Mylan Park, on Saturday … overall, WVU competed in nine events this weekend … redshirt freshman

Sada Wright won the discus throw competition with a distance of 43.36 meters … freshman

Antigone Archer won the 3,000-meter run in a time of 9:56.60.
