MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia dropped three spots to 13
th in this week's Associated Press Top 25 men's basketball poll, released earlier today.
AP will have one final poll at the conclusion of the NCAA men's basketball tournament in early April. West Virginia is also 13th in the coaches' poll.
The Mountaineers (18-9) have been ranked in all 17 polls this year, reaching a high of No. 6 on March 1. WVU was also ranked in the Top 10 in weeks four, five, six, 14 and 16.
This is the 263
rd appearance in the polls for West Virginia, which is 38
th all-time and seven behind No. 37 Texas with 270 appearances.
In the Big 12, Baylor dropped one spot to No. 3, Texas is No. 9, Oklahoma State is No. 11, Kansas is No. 12 and Texas Tech is No. 21.
Seven Big 12 teams were invited to this year's NCAA Tournament.
West Virginia departed for Indianapolis earlier today and is scheduled to have news conference on Wednesday in advance of its Friday night game against Morehead State at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The second round matchup against the Ohio Valley Conference champions will tip off at 10:50 p.m. and will be televised nationally on truTV.
