Two Earn ESPN.com True Freshman All-America Honors

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Here is another sign that the future is bright for Neal Brown's West Virginia University football program.
Two of his players, offensive guard Zach Frazier and defensive tackle Akheem Mesidor, were named to the ESPN.com True Freshman All-America Team revealed earlier today.
The network's college football experts Craig Haubert and Tom Luginbill selected the squad.
Of Frazier, they wrote:
"The Mountaineers quickly benefited from keeping Frazier, a top in-state prospect, at home. The former three-star started all but one game this season at two different positions, including the final eight games at left guard. Frazier's production was recognized by coaches inside and outside the program, as he was named the team's offensive lineman of the week twice and was an all-conference honorable mention selection as well."
And concerning Mesidor, here is what they had to say:
"During the spring of his junior season, we felt Mesidor, who then held only one Power 5 offer, was an under-the-radar prospect. He was rated four stars but was outside of the ESPN 300. The Mountaineers' top-rated prospect in the 2020 class proved to be an excellent addition, finishing his freshman season with 6.5 tackles for loss and a team-high five sacks. He was named second-team All-Big 12."
Other Big 12 players on the squad include Texas running back Bijan Robinson and Oklahoma wide receiver Marvin Mims.
West Virginia concluded a COVID-19 shortened 2020 season with a 6-4 record and a 24-21 come-from-behind victory over Army in last month's AutoZone Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tennessee.
It was just the Mountaineers' second bowl victory since joining the Big 12 in 2012.
