The Lady Raiders cut WVU's lead to four points over the first three minutes of the second frame, but Carson fired back with a triple. TTU's Vivian Gray then countered with a 3 of her own and helped Texas Tech cut WVU's lead to two with just over three minutes to play in the half.

West Virginia quickly responded over the final minutes of the second quarter, as Martinez and Gondrezick both scored to help the Mountaineers end the frame on an 8-2 run. The Mountaineers led by eight at halftime.
