MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Freshman Momoko Nagato of the West Virginia University tennis team claimed a second-place finish in this weekend's Fall Circuit tournament on Sunday afternoon at the Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown.
"It was a solid weekend overall for our team," WVU coach Miha Lisac said. "We got some invaluable competition experience. Momoko competed well today to cap off the weekend for the team. Now, we will take some time to get healthy and prepare for the spring semester."
Nagato began Sunday's tournament finale with a semifinal match against Tatum Evans. After Nagato claimed the first point of the opening set, Evans retired early. Nagato advanced to the tournament final to square off against Taylor Ng.
Ng took the first set, 6-2, but the two battled in the second frame until the set was knotted up at 6-6. In the deciding tiebreaker, Nagato lost, 4-7, allowing Ng to claim the set and victory.
