
Evening Session at Virginia Challenge Postponed

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University track and field team competed in just two events before Friday's action at the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia, was postponed due to inclement weather.
The meet resumes on Saturday morning, beginning at 9 a.m. ET, at Virginia's Lannigan Field. Fans can follow along with the Mountaineers with the meet's live results, presented by flashresults.com.
Redshirt senior Bria Welker placed fifth in the 400 meters on Friday morning, matching her outdoor season-best time of 56.40. Additionally, sophomore Ellie Gardner participated in the pole vault before the meet was officially postponed.
More than 50 teams have joined WVU in Charlottesville this weekend, including Boston College, Marshall, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Pitt, Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse, No. 16 Tennessee, Virginia, Wake Forest and others.
West Virginia is competing at the Virginia Challenge for the seventh consecutive year. This weekend also marks the Mountaineers' ninth trip to Charlottesville since 2014, including the second this season. WVU also competed at a four-team meet hosted by the Cavaliers on April 6.
