Box Score MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University tennis team (7-3, 0-1 Big 12) bounced back from two straight losses in dominating fashion, as it defeated Binghamton, 7-0, on Saturday afternoon at the Summit Tennis Academy in Morgantown.
 
With the win, the Mountaineers collected their second clean sweep of an opponent this season. WVU claimed its first clean sweep on Feb. 22, when it defeated Niagara, 7-0.
 
"It was a solid team performance today," said head coach Miha Lisac. "Now, we are looking forward to the second match of the weekend and playing against Marshall tomorrow."
 
Facing a short-handed Binghamton team, WVU won the first doubles match and final two singles matches by default.
 
Doubles Recap
In the No. 2 slot, freshman Anastasiia Bovolskaia and senior Abigail Rosiello paired up for the first time this season. The Mountaineer duo defeated Michelle Eisenberg and Maria Pandya, 6-2, to claim the doubles team point for West Virginia.
 
The final doubles match was played out in the No. 1 slot, where sophomores Anne-Sophie Courteau and Giovanna Caputo defeated Tiffany Dunn and Samara Eisenberg, 6-3.
 
Singles Recap
The first singles match to finish came from the No. 2 slot, where Bovolskaia made easy work of Michelle Eisenberg. The Irkutsk, Russia, native defeated Eisenberg in two sets, 6-1, 6-1. With the win, WVU earned its fourth team point and clinched the match. The final three matches were played out.
 
Starting in the No. 4 slot, Caputo bagged another two-set victory for the Mountaineers by defeating Tiffany Dunn, 6-2, 6-1.
 
Finishing shortly after from the No. 3 slot, Courteau collected her team-leading, eighth singles win of the season by besting Maria Pandya in two sets, 6-4, 6-0.
 
In the No. 1 slot, junior Christina Jordan dropped the first set, 2-6, to Samara Eisenberg but rebounded to take the second set, 6-3, and forced a third-set, super tiebreaker. In the final set, the Detroit, Michigan, native toppled Eisenberg, 10-5, to claim the final match of the day.

Looking Ahead
West Virginia competes tomorrow, as it hosts Marshal for the 41st edition of the in-state rivalry. In the previous 40 meetings, the Mountaineers are 23-17 against the Thundering Herd. In last year's regular-season meeting against Marshall, WVU won, 4-3, on the road.
 
Marshall (2-9, 0-3 C-USA) is on an eight-match skid, with its last win coming against West Virginia State, 7-0, on Jan. 26.
 
Sunday's match against Marshall is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. ET. Fans can also follow action against the Thundering Herd via StatBroadcast.
