Martin Named WBCA Region Finalist

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Redshirt junior guard Tynice Martin of the West Virginia University women's basketball team was named at region finalist for the 2019 WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America honors, as announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association on Thursday.
Martin, a finalist in region 3, was previously a WBCA All-America Honorable Mention in 2017.
A 2019 All-Big 12 First Team honoree, Martin leads the Mountaineers with 17.7 points per game along with 5.6 rebounds per contest. She boasts 48 steals on the season as she returned to the court after missing the 2017-18 season due to injury.
The Atlanta native posted 13 20-point efforts this season, scoring in double figures in 26 of 29 games played. Martin also added a trio of double-doubles to her resume. As her junior season comes to a close, she moved into WVU's all-time top-10 with 174 career 3-pointers made and 503 3-pointers attempted. Additionally, Martin is less than 75 points away from moving into the program's all-time top 10 in scoring.
This season, Martin was twice named a Big 12 Player of the Week and was named to the Wade Trophy and Citizen Naismith Trophy watch lists.
The selection committee will select the 10-member WBCA NCAA Division I Coaches' All-America team from the 52 region finalists. The team will be announced on April 4.
