Mountaineers Retain Vault, Floor Rankings

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastics team enters a two-meet week nationally ranked No. 13 on floor exercise and No. 23 on vault in the Road to Nationals Rankings.
The Mountaineers (16-7, 0-4) drop one spot in both rankings. WVU shows a 49.24 National Qualifying Score (NQS) on floor exercise and 48.97 NQS on vault.
Having not competed since March 2, WVU also dropped back two spots to No. 28 overall with an NQS of 195.635.
Individually, senior Kirah Koshinski ranks No. 10 on vault (9.905 NQS) and No. 17 on floor exercise (9.915 NQS). Classmate Jaquie Tun ranks No. 39 on floor exercise (9.89 NQS).
The Mountaineers sit at No. 4 in the Southeast Region. WVU ranks as high as No. 3 on vault and floor exercise and checks-in at No. 5 on uneven bars (48.92 NQS) and balance beam (48.76 NQS).
Koshinski ranks No. 2 on vault. Tun follows at No. 24 (9.78 NQS).
Three Mountaineers are regionally ranked on floor exercise, with Koshinski pacing the pack at No. 6. Tun ranks No. 10, and sophomore McKenna Linnen sits at No. 22 (9.83 NQS).
Tun ranks a team-best No. 14 on uneven bars (9.825 NQS), and freshman Esperanza Abarca follows at No. 17 (9.81 NQS). Freshman Rachel Hornung ranks No. 22 on balance beam (9.785 NQS), and junior Abby Kaufman ranks No. 9 in the all-around (38.98 NQS).
The Mountaineers rank No. 4 in the Big 12 Conference. WVU ranks as high as No. 3 on floor exercise and No. 4 on vault, uneven bars and balance beam.
Koshinski ranks No. 5 in the conference on vault and floor. Tun and Kaufman rank No. 7 on floor and in the all-around, respectively.
WVU competes twice this week. First up, the Mountaineers travel to Tempe, Arizona, for a tri meet at No. 21 Arizona State with No. 14 BYU on Wednesday, March 13, at 9:30 p.m. EST. WVU then concludes its home season at the WVU Coliseum on Sunday, March 17, against No. 22 Ohio State, No. 24 Penn State and NC State at 2 p.m.
