WVU Receives Votes in USA TODAY Coaches Poll

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University women's basketball team received 54 votes in the USA TODAY Sports women's basketball coaches' poll, released Thursday.
The Mountaineers were third in the "others receiving votes" category. Iowa received 75 votes, followed by Minnesota with 73.
A trio of Big 12 teams appears in the poll. Defending National Champion Baylor ranks second with 773 points, including eight first-place votes. Texas ranks at No. 15 with 310 points, while Iowa State tied with Michigan at No. 24 with 81 points.
WVU nonconference opponents Mississippi State (No. 8), Syracuse (No. 17) and Michigan State (No. 21) also appear in the rankings.
West Virginia opens the 2019-20 season on Thursday, Nov. 7, when the Mountaineers host Saint Francis U at the WVU Coliseum in a 7 p.m. tipoff.
