MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University Director of Athletics Shane Lyons has unveiled the four races that will headline the rowing schedule for the fall of 2019.
"We have a compact fall schedule for both squads this year, serving the needs of each," WVU coach Jimmy King said. "The competitions provide not only opportunities to test our fall speed, but also some welcomed variety to our day-to-day training."
West Virginia's varsity squad is scheduled to open its fall season in Neville Township, Pennsylvania, on Oct. 19, as the Mountaineers compete at the Yinzer Cup, hosted by Robert Morris University.
The following week, WVU's varsity crew is set to travel to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to compete at the 49th Head of the Schuylkill Regatta on Oct. 26. West Virginia is making its second consecutive trip to race on the Schuylkill River, after the team competed at the event last year for the first time since 2013.
The Mountaineers' novice squad will make its debut on Nov. 2, as the crew travels to compete at the Head of the Occoquan in Fairfax Station, Virginia. This season marks the sixth consecutive year that WVU's novice squad will compete at the event.
Closing out the fall, the novice squad is scheduled to scrimmage Duquesne in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Nov. 8.
