July 24, 2018 10:17 AM | Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Swimming & Diving
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three members of the West Virginia University men's and women's swimming and diving team travel to USA Swimming's 2018 Phillips 66 National Championships, from July 25-29, in Irvine, California.
Meet Info | TV/Webcast Schedule
Senior Jake Armstrong, junior Morgan Bullock and sophomore David Dixon will represent the Mountaineers at the William Woollett, Jr. Aquatic Center. All three swimmers qualified for the NCAA Championships last season, and Armstrong (100 breast) and Bullock (200 fly) earned honorable mention All-America status at the national meets.
Armstrong won his second consecutive Big 12 individual championship in the 100 breast at the 2018 Big 12 Championship in February. Additionally, Bullock and Dixon earned All-Big 12 First Team accolades at the conference meet last season.
The WVU trio joins some of the nation's top swimmers at the meet, which includes more than 30 Olympic medalists among 1,300-plus qualifiers.
"Morgan, David and Jake have done a great job this summer, along with the rest of the team," WVU coach Vic Riggs said. "They are coming off strong swims a few weeks ago. Like NCAAs, we'll be looking to go and swim best times and get second swims. For each of them, this is a great step forward towards Olympic Trials in 2020."
Daily preliminaries are set to begin at 12 p.m. ET, each day, with finals sessions set for 9 p.m. Prelims will be streamed live on usaswimming.org. NBC Sports also will provide coverage of the five-day national meet across NBC, NBC Sports Network and the Olympic Channel platforms.
Below is a schedule of events for Mountaineer swimmers.
