MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (July 23, 2018) – The West Virginia University women's basketball team will host Missouri on Dec. 2 at the WVU Coliseum as part of the 2018 Big 12/SEC Challenge, as announced by league offices on Monday.
"I think this will be an exciting matchup," WVU coach Mike Carey said. "Missouri really bolsters our schedule. We'll face teams from the SEC and Big 10 this season, and will play at least one, possibly two ACC teams, which will help prepare us for another tough Big 12 schedule."
The 2018-19 season will mark just the second meeting between WVU and Mizzou. The Mountaineers downed the Tigers, 85-75, at the Paradise Classic Tournament in Honolulu, Hawaii, in December of 1996.
The Tigers went 24-8 overall and 11-5 in league action to finish third in the SEC. They made their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance, falling to Florida Gulf Coast. Mizzou is 1-0 in the Big 12/SEC Challenge after defeating Kansas State, 73-59, in Columbia, Missouri, last season.
West Virginia is 2-0 since joining the Big 12/Challenge in 2016-17. The Mountaineers defeated Ole Miss, 66-61, at the WVU Coliseum during the 2016-17 season and claimed a 71-56 win over Texas A&M in College Station, Texas, last season. The challenge is tied at 12-12.
Game time and coverage will be announced at a later date.
