
Wolf Named Student-Athlete of the Week

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Following his performance in a 1-0 win over No. 7 Texas Tech on Thursday, freshman left-handed pitcher Jackson Wolf of the West Virginia University baseball team has been named the WVU Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by University Apartments.
Wolf came on in relief on Thursday night against the Red Raiders, pitching four scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. The Gahanna, Ohio, native struck out three and earned his first career win. The victory was the Mountaineers' first over a ranked opponent this season. The result also was the first home loss for Texas Tech in 2018, and the first time the Red Raiders were shutout at home since 2015.
Wolf is 1-0 with a 2.79 earned-run average this season. He has allowed three earned runs on four hits in 9.2 innings. The 6-foot-7 lefty has eight strikeouts on the year. He will be making his first career start for the Mountaineers on Tuesday at Penn State.

Last Week in Women's Basketball: The Mountaineers (25-12) fell to Virginia Tech in the WNIT Semifinals on Wednesday at the WVU Coliseum … senior forward Teana Muldrow had 20 points and tied her career high with six blocks in her final game in the Gold and Blue … senior guard Chania Ray just missed a double-double with nine points and nine assists in her final contest … senior forward Kristina King capped her career with 12 rebounds and seven assists in the loss.

This Week in Gymnastics: Seeded fourth, the Mountaineers will compete at the 2018 NCAA University Park Regional Championships on Saturday, April 7, at 4 p.m. ET, inside Penn State's Rec Hall in University Park, Pennsylvania … WVU will compete against No. 5-ranked Florida, No. 8 Washington, No. 17 Arizona State, PSU and New Hampshire.
