
Mountaineers' Beam Lineup Ranked

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University gymnastic team's balance beam lineup is nationally ranked No. 25 in this week's Road to Nationals Rankings.
The Mountaineers' (5-4, 0-1) ranking is based on their 48.725 season average. The balance beam lineup has been nationally ranked each week this season.
Junior Kirah Koshinski also is nationally ranked and sits at No. 19 in the vault rankings with a 9.865 average. The Berwick, Pennsylvania, native has slowly climbed the chart each week this season and moved ahead four sports this week.
The Mountaineers continue to sit just outside the top 25 and again rank No. 27 nationally with a 195.155 average. WVU also ranks No. 26 on vault (48.87 avg.) and No. 32 on uneven bars (48.685 avg.) and floor exercise (48.875 avg.).
Regionally, WVU ranks No. 4 in the Southeast. The Mountaineers rank as high as No. 3 on beam and sit at No. 5 on vault and No. 6 on bars and floor.
Five Mountaineers are ranked regionally on balance beam. Junior Carly Galpin paces the lineup and ranks No. 14 with a 9.765 average. Senior Jordan Gillette ranks No. 16 (9.755 avg.), sophomore Erica Fontaine ranks No. 17 (9.75 avg.) and freshman McKenna Linnen ranks No. 19 (9.745 avg.). Additionally, senior Zaakira Muhammad ranks No. 22 (9.724 avg.).
Koshinski owns the team's top regional ranking and sits at No. 4 on vault. She also ranks No. 16 on floor (9.815 avg.).
Muhammad follows Koshinski in the vault rankings and ranks No. 10 (9.831 avg.). The Pennsauken, New Jersey, native also ranks No. 12 on bars (9.794 avg.) and No. 18 in the all-around (38.783 avg.).
Junior Jaquie Tun ranks No. 15 on bars (9.78 avg.), and sophomore Abby Kaufman ranks No. 15 in the all-around (38.95 avg.).
The Mountaineers rank No.4 in the Big 12 Conference. WVU is tied with Iowa State at No. 3 on floor and also ranks No. 4 on vault, bars and beam.
Individually, Koshinski ranks No. 5 on vault and No. 9 on floor. Kaufman ranks No. 7 in the all-around, and Muhammad ranks No. 10 on bars.
Oklahoma continues to rank No. 1 nationally with a 197.813 average. Utah ranks No. 2 (197.335 avg.), LSU sits at No. 3 (197.29 avg.), and UCLA (197.265 avg.) and Florida (196.98 avg.) rank No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.
Kentucky sits at No. 6 (196.475 avg.), and Michigan follows at No. 7 (196.425 avg.). Nebraska ranks No. 8 (196.394 avg.), and Alabama (196.355 avg.) and Arkansas (196.31 avg.) round out the top 10.
The Mountaineers conclude a three-week swing away from Morgantown at No. 12 Denver, with No. 21 George Washington, on Saturday, Feb. 10, with action set to begin at 8 p.m. EST.
