
Duo Maintains National Rankings

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – West Virginia University gymnasts Kirah Koshinski and Zaakira Muhammad continue to rank nationally on vault in this week's Road to Nationals Rankings.
A native of Berwick, Pennsylvania, Koshinski, a junior, again moves up the chart this week and sits three spots higher at No. 11 with a 9.875 season average. Muhammad, a senior and native of Pennsauken, New Jersey, continues to rank No. 48 with a 9.842 average.
The Mountaineers (7-6, 0-2) do not crack the top 25 this week but move two spots up to No. 29 with a 195.275 average. WVU ranks as high as No. 26 on vault (48.943 avg.). The team also ranks No. 30 on balance beam (48.725 avg.) and floor exercise (48.925 avg.), and No. 34 on uneven bars (48.682 avg.).
Regionally, the Mountaineers rank No. 5 in the Southeast. WVU ranks No. 5 on every event but floor, where the team ranks No. 6.
Koshinski is regionally ranked No. 3 on vault, and Muhammad follows at No. 9.
Muhammad paced the team on bars and ranks No. 11 with a 9.792 average. Junior Jaquie Tun follows at No. 19 (9.754 avg.), and freshman Sydney Marler ranks No. 25 (9.736 avg.).
Junior Carly Galpin ranks a team-best No. 14 on beam with a 9.771 average. Muhammad follows at No. 19 (9.756 avg.), and sophomore Erica Fontaine ranks No. 20 (9.75 avg.). Freshman McKenna Linnen (9.736 avg.) ranks No. 24, and senior Jordan Gillette (9.732 avg.) and sophomore Abby Kaufman (9.732 avg.) rank No. 25.
Koshinski paces the Mountaineers' floor lineup and ranks No. 12 with a 9.836 average. Sophomore Chloe Cluchey appears in the rankings for the first time this season and sits at No. 23 (9.8 avg.).
Kaufman ranks No. 16 in the all-around with a 38.95 average, and Muhammad follows at No. 18 (38.938 avg.).
The Mountaineers continue to rank No. 4 in the Big 12 Conference. WVU ranks as high as No. 3 on floor and also ranks No. 4 on vault, bars and beam.
Koshinski and Muhammad each show two conference rankings. Koshinski ranks No. 3 on vault and No. 9 on floor, while Muhammad ranks No. 9 on bars and in the all-around. Kaufman ranks No. 8 in the all-around.
Oklahoma, the Mountaineers' next opponent, ranks No. 1 nationally with a 197.638 average. LSU follows at No. 2 (197.481 avg.), while UCLA ranks No. 3 (197.357 avg.), Utah ranks No. 4 (197.329 avg.) and Florida sits at No. 5 (197.1 avg.).
Michigan ranks No. 6 (196.593 avg.), Alabama follows at No. 7 (196.539 avg.) and Oregon State sits at No. 8 (196.442 avg.). Kentucky (196.329 avg.) and Washington (196.314 avg.) round out the top 10.
The Mountaineers travel to Norman, Oklahoma, for a dual meet against the Sooners on Friday, Feb. 23, with action inside the Lloyd Noble Center set to begin at 7:45 EST.
