
Osborn Finishes Fourth on Day One

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Sophomore Sarah Osborn of the No. 3-ranked West Virginia University rifle team shot 206.2 and finished in fourth place in the women's junior division in day one of the USA Shooting Winter Airgun (WAG) Championships at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
A native of Hampton, Virginia, Osborn advanced to the junior final after shooting 621.2 in the women's 10m air rifle qualification relay, the sixth-highest junior mark of the day.
Junior Morgan Phillips finished 11th in the junior division with a 618.2 total.
In the all-age division, senior Ginny Thrasher just missed qualifying for the final, shooting 621.4 and finishing ninth overall. Osborn's score put her 11th overall, and Phillips finished in 20th place.
Of note, recent WVU signees Malori Brown and Calista Smoyer finished in 31st (612.8) and 67th (605.3) place, respectively, in the junior division. Additionally, Mountaineer graduate assistant Soren Butler shot 608.0 and finished 39th in the men's 10m air rifle competition.
The second and final day of individual air rifle competition is tomorrow, Dec. 1.
