Mountaineers Sweep RedHawks on Day Two

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Highlighted by a clean sweep of the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks in doubles play, the West Virginia University tennis team completed day two of the Louisville Tennis Classic on Saturday evening in Louisville, Kentucky.
"We had a lot of good, competitive opportunities today," said coach Miha Lisac. "We handled some well, and we will use the rest to get better tomorrow."
Doubles Recap
The Mountaineers opened Saturday's doubles action at 10 a.m. ET, when they competed against Miami (Ohio). Following two losses on the first day of tournament action, junior Christina Jordan and freshman Anastasiia Bovolskaia claimed their first win of the weekend by defeating Milana Lysova and Priyana Kalita, 6-3.
Sophomores Anne-Sophie Courteau and Giovanna Caputo tacked on the second win of the day for WVU, when they secured a victory over Miami's (Ohio) Emily Struble and Melati Devi, 6-2. Junior Sofia Duran and senior Abigail Rosiello then helped West Virginia complete a clean sweep of the RedHawks, when they bested Lena Babunski and Janelle Ghanam, 7-5.
Following the clean sweep of Miami (Ohio), the Mountaineers would drop two of their last three doubles matches to Marquette. Jordan and Bovolskaia would drop their second match of the day to Lesley Foe and Natalija Popovic, 1-6, while Courteau and Caputo also fell to Fleur Eggnik and Alexandria Chinikova, 2-6.
Duran and Rosiello would cap doubles action by securing a tiebreaking victory, 7-6 (4), over Marquette's Isabella Franks and Elisabeth Desmariais.

WVU finished Saturday's tournament action in singles play, where they took on host Louisville. Jordan, Courteau and Rosiello would all drop their matches in two sets, while Bovolskaia would fall in a three-set, super tie-breaker to Nikolina Jovic, 4-6, 7-5, 5-10.
Despite the losses, Caputo and Duran would both claim victories for the Mountaineers. Caputo bested Louisville's Sena Suswam in a super tie-breaker, 4-6, 6-4, 10-8, while Duran defeated Louisville's Diana Wong in two sets, 6-4, 6-4.
