Three to Shoot at Winter Airgun Match

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Three from the West Virginia University rifle team will compete at the 2018 USA Shooting Winter Airgun Championships, set for Nov. 30 – Dec. 2, at the United States Olympic Shooting Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
The three-day event will serve as a selection match for the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) New Delhi World Cup, as well as part of the selection matches for the Munich and Beijing World Cups.
WVU rifle will be represented by senior Ginny Thrasher, junior Morgan Phillips and sophomore Sarah Osborn. The Mountaineers will shoot one air rifle qualification relay Friday and Saturday, and the top-eight shooters will have the opportunity to advance to a final in the overall and junior competitions each day.
Thrasher also will compete in the mixed team match on Sunday.
Last year, Thrasher earned two wins in the women's junior division and was the overall division winner with a two-day score of 830.9.
Phillips finished second in the women's junior division on day one, and Osborn placed fourth on day two.
Following the conclusion of the championships, Thrasher also will compete in the Rifle Smallbore Selection Match, with pre-event training set for Dec. 3 and the women's 3-position rifle final set for Dec. 5.
